I am happy he wants to leave personally.

It appears Canadiens fans are butt hurt that they dont have the leverage that they once did while also not understanding player valuation

leverage are all for the team taking him. Other teams knowing that he wants out won't pay a huge price to take you out of this trouble, but won't be there like rumors claim ... maybe 2 teams might want him, but this won't be much more than habs vs another one .... So yeah Habs got all the leverage so far

Adding to the decling value effect of a young guy wanting out for the last 2 seasons ... and you have a lesser deal in hand.

yup, all players traded for above had better seasons, experience, lesser cap, and overall better value on the market(except maybe O'Reilly) Therefore in that thinking, the return is less.

Age is a factor, and should be taken into consideration, but so is Dubois' unique case of 1. not sticking around for long and 2. having clear focus on a single team. Having Dach and 5OA is just off the board of anything that has happened in today's ever growing cautious league, it's frankly silly. However...anything is possible. Let the Jets fans hope I say!

Chevy Silverado is going to fight it looks, so that's why the value is where I've put it at, there could be protections on that Calgary pick, but that's too complicated already with the conditions on that one pick(gotta be a record or something).

Pretty impressive . . . 5 trade offers, 5 teams that say No Chance. You have to learn to construct trades by making at least a tiny effort at understanding the other teams' cap situation and roster needs. Yes, Los Angeles is in the market for a goalie, but any transaction has to be cap-neutral for the Kings in order for it to be possible. This deal would add over $5 million to Los Angeles' cap total.

Any deal with Los Angeles starts with Arvidsson or Iafallo coming over and 50% retention on Hellebuyck. Those aren't my opinion of value parameters; those are the inescapable mathematical realities.

I don't think it can be compared using the sign and trade side as there's only ever been one, and im sure GMs wont use that comparison looking at how it went down. I can't think of another comparable tho. Horvat is a goodish player comp, but he's older and was a tdl trade. Only other similar trade comps I can rummage up are Meier and O'Reilly, but they're iffy.

So...
-Horvat

for

-17ovr
-Beauviller
-Raty

and

-O'Reilly+Acciari

for

-Gaudette
-Abramov
-25ovr
-76ovr
-2024 2nd

and

-Meier
-not gonna write allat(srsly did they just buy all of the flight tickets to New Jersey and say here ya go?)

for

-Johnsson
-Mukhamadullin
-Zetterlund
-26ovr
-2024 conditional 7th

So, I'd think the structure would be in the ballpark of a 1st+2024 2nd+A- to B+ prospect with high upside+cap dump. For that reason, I'd expect something similar to

-31ovr
-Calgary's 2025 1st(might be good looking at that team)
-Colorado's 2024 2nd
-Dvorak
-Ylonen
(+ one of Kidney, Mesar, Davidson, Struble, etc.)

In none of the above trades was a top prospect really handed out. For that reason, I'd think(emphasis on the I) that Roy, Dach, Farrell, Hutson and 5OA are tougher to get.

Just my two cents(or 1 if you didn't make it this far) anyway, good day!)

I think his value is a little more similar to Fiala last year
17 overall and Faber
Fiala is a bit better but Dubois plays a more important position. But Fiala never said he didn’t want to play in Minnesota. So a little bit less value. Also 17 overall last year = 25 overall this year.
So Dubois is worth 27 overall and a prospect like Faber
I think Kidney = Faber at the time of the trade
So the trade would be :
Kidney
31 overall
Whatever is necessary to go up four spot, maybe a third or Edmunson

Sorry I though it was 17. But I t doesn’t change a lot. Maybe a lower pick going to Winnipeg

LA isn't moving Byfield. LA can't afford Helle now or in the future. Helle seems like he is going to be the next goalie with a horrible big contract that will kill teams at the end of thw contract. Big no for LA.
