$9 million cap dump for mid-round picks isn't that much.

They'd retain $1.3 on cap for 24-25 and there isn't a team that will trade a 2nd FOR Hall.

Boston needs MORE picks, not fewer. They'd rather have a down year than dump picks AND throw away a top 6 forward. They need to get under the cap, but the situation is not nearly this desperate.

If he isn't even worth a 2nd, then why bother trying to trade for him? I know teams want to weaponize cap space, but you need to be realistic. I'd be really surprised to see Boston make a pure cap dump move at all. Expect buyouts, hockey trades, or maybe a trade with low round picks/prospects going back to Boston for one of Hall, Gryz, or Ullmark.

He's an offensive heavy player that had 36 points on the best regular season team and makes $6 million.

And scored 5 goals and 3 assists in his seven games in the playoffs... he's worth every penny in a middle six role.
