Really cherry picking with the description here. CBJ don't need wingers as it stands right now, but if they moved Lainer then all of a sudden they have a top 6 winger slot that needs filled. Yeah, they really need a top 6 center right noes, but it'd be pointless to make a deal like this to fill that need when it'd just create another need in the process.
It also seems like you're mentioning Kuzy having less term like that's a good thing for CBJ, but that's a negative for them. Maybe I'm misinterpreting that, but seems that way. Age is also a massive factor Laine is in his prime rn and Kuzy on the wrong side of 30. Way more long term potential with Laine. Lastly, Laine isn't good defensively, but Kuzy is a black hole there. CBJ don't need to get even worst defensively in the top 6.
This deal just makes no sense for CBJ
