They dont stay under cap by trading a top 6 potential player on an ELC contract

yeah no, not happening.

buyout Reilly, trade forbort anywhere for future considerations, and the cap situation becomes a lot more manageable. From there we'll probably still have to trade Ullmark, but we aren't trading a first and our two top prospects for a bunch of cheap depth players just to save cap.

The base idea was a nearly cap neutral move that gives depth and adds skill to the front. Hayes and Laughton at half off would be insane for a 2-3 spot… Hayes possibly beats out Coyle for 1

Essentially two bodies added and gives cap to spare… Seeler and Walker being good replacements for Riley and Forbert doesn’t hurt.
Mobutu the prospect/pick situation can vary… just gave a decent return as Laughton and Hayes have 3 years remaining. But yeah, if Mason and Fabian make the jump then you can swap them for not ready talents

Boston of course has these cap issues so trading away cheap young talent who could help probably isn't what they do.

Rather than give up a star, you give up prospects. If these two were to make the team, swap them in the deal. The deal itself is a work in progress. The idea is adding depth and talent while making sure Boston has the cap to fill out the team
