The Shock of the draft

Created by: Jacketsman61
Team: 2023-24 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 10, 2023
Published: Jun. 11, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This assumes Draisaitl would be open to a trade. Both teams could benefit from this. Edmonton gets a potential replacement in 3OA and a legit cost controlled prospect on D in Jiricek. The Jackets get their 1C. Heavy price for the Jackets but Draisaitl is worth it.

You'll wish this never happened when Dria without McDavid gets 35 Goals and 50 apples in CBJ

Chinakhov and Jiricek are not known good NHL players yet though and not what the Oilers would be looking for while competing for a Stanley Cup. Roslovic wouldn't play centre unless on the 4th line in Edmonton even without Draisaitl on the team. He'd play on the wing probably. This is still likely an underpay too.

See Jack Eichel trade and increase what was sent for him substantially

3 OA alone is an upgrade on the entire package traded for Eichel at the time of the deal. Krebs was a 17 OA, Tuch was an ok middle 6 guy, the 1st was expected to be late and they got lucky it became 16th OA, and they got 63rd or 64th OA in 2023. I would not trade 3 OA for a package like that. Adding Jiricek, a recent 6th OA that is considered a top 5 prospect in the NHL today, a middle 6er in Chinakhov, and another middle 6er in Roslovic is a massive upgrade on the Eichel package.

Also I explained why I think picks and prospects would not be what the Oilers are looking for right now. That's why I referred to the Eichel trade, because it included 2 known NHL roster players.
I'm an Oilers fan so I place more value on players than draft picks too, CC: Nail Yakupov, and Jesse Puljujärvi lol

The value Draisaitl has to the Oilers while they have the best chance to win a Stanley Cup should be taken into consideration and I don't think that package would convince them to move him. Just imagine what a trade for Malkin would have cost in the summer of 2008. It would be something like that for Leon

The Eichel package did not have 2 NHL roster players. Krebs had 13 games under his belt when he was traded whereas Chinakhov has 92. Tuch also had a .545 p/g rate over his career compared to Roslovic's .492 p/g. Carlsson or Fantilli have the potential to step right into the NHL and Jiricek is likely NHL ready now. The picks traded in the Eichel deal did not have a realistic chance of playing in the NHL within the next 3-5 years. So compared to the Eichel deal the package proposed here potentially has 4 NHL players with two of them being *extremely* high end value compared to 1 NHLer in the Eichel deal and another that needed work and two futures.

Are you reading what I'm saying or do you just want to argue about draft pick and prospect potential value?

For the 3rd time, I don't think the Oilers are interested in picks and prospects right now while challenging for the Cup.
I said increase the value of the Eichel trade substantially before saying it included 2 known NHL roster players.
I'll be more specific. Was Krebs on the NHL roster? yes. Is Jiricek? no. Krebs and Tuch = 2, Roslovic and Chinakhov = 2 that's not an increase.
And Chinakhov is not good enough yet to be worth substantially more than Krebs was.

You engaged with me, so please respect what I'm saying. Simple as I can: I think futures have very little value to the OIlers right now, and to get Draisaitl or a player like him from them or any team challenging for the Stanley Cup would mean an incredible overpay.
