According to Seravalli, Garland is viewed around the league as a free asset. So, Vancouver would need to add to him to recieve futures.

what would that make dillon? makes 1 mil less and brings about 1 mil less value to a team than garland. not sure when every player making more than a few mil became a negative asset. if garlands a ufa july 1 he gets a similar contract with longer term (mikheyev, marchment)

Yes, need guys with term OR better still... picks and prospects.

But, NO MORE LITTLE GUYS THAT ARE OVERPAID. This has to be made clear to anyone proposing trades. WPG does NOT want Marner or Garland. Great or Good isn't important. I know that sounds crazy, but you've watched the playoffs. Guys like Marner, Ehlers, etc... get targeted like mad and suffer.

The Jets need to get younger and better fast.

They will have no choice but to rebuild.

They are losing Helly and PLD for sure. Probably Scheifele.

The time is now to dump and get.

i agree with you i think they tear it down to the studs. start iver. but all indications point to them not wanted to rebuild.

if they ‘retool’ i like this deal for them. i propsed a similar one in boeser for dillion and a pick/prospect. would allow WPG to get a top 6 winger to replace one of their guys leaving without giving up one if their better assets, which they would get hauls from as easily replace dillion and the pick/prospect.

i also need to see garland in the playoff before i agree with that part. dude is 5’2 but plays a lot bigger. gritty little elf

The difference is Dillon is only under contact for one more year, while Garland carries an almost $5mil cap hit for anther 3 years.

Ultimately though you'll need to convince NHL GM's that Garland is worth something as they are the ones saying he's not worth anything, not me.

well ur quoting seravalli who has never been right on one thing canucks realted in the history of ever

for WPG traded a guy who will walk in 12 months for a useful middle 6 winger with term makes sense. cant see any FA going tk WPG with whats going on this year, and its not like theyve flocked there in previous years

Seravalli isn't right on a lot of things, I personally like Garland but as @WPGSK says, he just does nothing for the Jets where they are now.

if jets rebuild yes this trade makes no sense, hold dillon and sell at the deadline. seems as if WPG management wants to remain competitive, and not tear it all the way down. interesting case

Quantity doesn't=quality. TB really doesn't value picks highly and that's the most impressive piece (not saying much). TB is looking for a substantially better version of Rathbone as the main return piece if they trade Colton. Dermott can't stay healthy Rathbone looks like a bust. Focht is a 12-14 foward at best. This trade absolutely sucks for Tampa Bay. It looks like you found every piece you didn't want and said I'll give him all this BS. I really don't want for a guy given Top 6 linemates and toi will be a 30+ goal scorer. TB passes EASILY!!

With Hellebuyck, PLD, Wheeler and maybe even Scheifele possibly moving on, most fans are hoping it pushes the Jets toward the rebuild approach.

Tampa Bay declines. They'll get better offers than this for Colton that fill immediate roster needs. This package doesn't do that.
