Draft and Free Agency

Team: 2023-24 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 13, 2023
Published: Jun. 13, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Line 1
Dadonov is an all offense, no defense kind of player. Maybe putting together an all Russian line brings Kuzy back to his old self, and if not, you can move Dadonov at the deadline. But I think it's worth a shot, especially if he would take a deal that cheap.
Line 2
Strome and Schmaltz could work together really well, and Milano would bring an element of speed that Strome and Schmaltz lack.
Line 3
McMichael playing alongside Backstrom would be huge to his growth. Wilson is the hitter and grinder on that line and can also provide finishing ability for Backy.
Line 4
Protas is NHL ready. Him and Dowd will be an unreal 4th line combo, and having a bulldog like Oshie to round out the line would make it the best 4th line in hockey without question.

Mtl might say no. They could use their cap space on other dumps. I don't think Mantha has the value to be flipped

I think they'd want to actually add a first in a Schmaltz deal, but valuewise, your deal pretty good. I'm not sold on Lapierre, but that doesn't mean much in the real world. Both teams might be happier with Iorio instead of Lapierre. Interesting proposal. Moving up is nice.

That's fair. You could honestly take the 6th out and just make it future considerations. Was just trying to get another shot at the dartboard late in this years draft

Nah we still decline without a sixth. Would take a third to dump him. Or take a bad contract

Would swapping a 5th for a 6th would really change the needle?

    I mean, really?

the picks aren't important there, that was just me trying to get another pick for the Caps in this years draft. Take a fourth and Mantha for future considerations for all i care lmfao

Freeing up $5.7m in cap space looks more like a 2nd than a 4th btw. Montreal has the opportunity this year to weaponize its space under the cap and Mantha is not a piece they would add as part of the next 3-year plan.
