There's no guarantee he will EVER be on the Wings. We have Waldman, Maata, Chiarot that are NHL-ready DMen right now - that's about it.

Hanifin is a young, cost-controlled top 4 Dman that is NHL ready NOW, so trading for an asset like that makes perfect sense at any time.

Name all the prospects and assets you want, most will not turn into NHL players.

Pass all day, use assets to bolster areas of weakness not strength. We have 4 including Edvinsson. I'm sure you are the type of person who wants to abandon rebuild for a bunch of now people and be mediocre forever. Worst take of any wings fan on this site. Wings aren't trading for a LD get that through your skull braniac

This has nothing to do with what Yzerman is doing...I never said anything about Yzerman.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

He's not on the wings he will be in the ahl, we still have many other LD on the roster as well as many in the pipeline, yet again we would be trading to bolster our biggest strength and we would be using these assets to bolster positions of weakness. But keep going on like you know what your talking about

For the 2024 1st I would do that trade.

Don't let the homers fool you by already putting Wallinder on the Wings. He is a really nice prospect but no guarantee he's ever an NHL Dman. I just wouldnt use the 2023 1st for Hanifin.

If you don't realize how valuable of a prospect Wallinder is, you haven't been paying attention. Kid is going to be an absolute stud.

I know right, why so serious. I wonder sometimes why so many on here are so angry, it's not real, these opinion or suggestions aren't actually happening. I wish instead of anger and negative responses, that constructive criticism or some coaching those with less hockey knowledge or team awareness happened. Oh well, I guess we are ALL here because we have nothing better to do LOL

Trust me, I pay attention, and really hope so, but unfortunately it's rather unlikely he'll be as good as we want him to be.

If Wallinder is as a stud, and Ed is a stud, and Albert is a stud, where do all these studs go? Where do they play? How do we pay them?

Eventually assets need to be used or moved. This would be an opportunity to do that for a known NHL asset. Simple as that.

Still wouldn't do it for the 2023 1st though (either one).

I think Albert will be a very good NHLer, maybe not a stud though. Wallinder and Edvinsson should NOT be moved as far as I'm concerned. The ceiling is WAY too high. As for moving assets, you do it when it make sense and you have a crunch. Ultimately, yes, one or more of them will probably need to be moved, but let it play itself out or at LEAST make the painful decision to move one when it's for a position of need and we're CLOSE. Right now, futures, prospects and development is FAR more important than adding a "win now" position we don't need. LD is NOT a need and we aren't in a crunch with any of those prospects, so moving them now, is just poor asset management.

Absolutely 100%. For the record, I would never expect this trade to go down, especially with the 2023 1st.

But there is absolutely a case to be made for trading for a piece like this. Hanifin is 26 - that is not a win now piece. Larkin is 26. That is a future core piece. It's not like this trade is for Suter.

Your stance of "you don't know how a prospect is going to be until they are" is always correct?
It is quite literally the safest option to go by.
It's also how you end up with "what could've been."

Almost as smug as the "hmm yes you hate society but yet you participate in it hm" losers lmao.
