Hawks gm has said they're not looking for a goalie and if they had any interest in a terrible one they'd just wait for Blackwood to not be qualified and sign him for league min as a ufa

There'll be enough interest in blackwood that you're not just gonna get him for league minimum. Someone will want him as a bounce back candidate, so even if he goes to UFA there will be some kind of minor bidding war. The goalie market is really weak.

What makes you think Timo signs for that? I’m not super versed on how those negotiations are going but I thought I read SJS offered 9+ and he didn’t budge. Obviously there may be other reasons but the fact that Devils are going to this arb thing with him to lower his salary for next year (something I believe rarely happens) probably means long term negotiations aren’t going well right now.

Also think Barby gets more on the market.

Definitely won't be the hawks. They already have their bad goalie in mrazek and a young backup in soderblom.

In what world do the Hawks give up a pick to add a 3rd goalie? Wrong team

To play devil's advocate: Blackwood is a low risk gamble that could pay out big. He shows flashes of a great goalie, so if he can stay healthy for a year you may have something. If he doesn't pan out, you thank him for what he's done to your lottery odds and let him walk next summer. Soderblom is still super young for a goalie and waiver eligible, and while I admit I have not seen him play his stats leave much to be desired.

I don’t disagree. It just won’t be the Hawks. Good deal for someone else potentially.

Hawks have stauber and Commesso in the ahl too so they don't have the roster space to give Blackwood playing time.
