What is the value in the CAR deal?

Canes will say no and then OS Bouchard for that insult of an offer.

I think Pesce is getting traded and I’m a die hard Oiler fan, but Oilers fan have to get their heads straight on this.
Ceci might be a start, he’s RHD but if you think a mid level prospect & a 3rd, 4th liner gets it done you’re out.of.your.mind……

Try Broberg - Ceci - Bourgault or Lavoie plus picks…

Even then the ask might be Holloway - Broberg plus picks..

Remember, this team has Tulsky & he will want top grade return.

When you respond “you can’t afford him” under a post that has him being paid 2.5, your comment is absolutely idiotic. But hey, looking at some of your comments that’s pretty typical. 🤡

He is gonna get more than 2.5 plus he won't go to the 1st unsigned so your os isn't even gonna happen

I’m commenting on what was put in this post. He shouldn’t get to that point but if your fans think this scenario is gonna happen then he’s absolutely going to get poached.

1 x 2.5 is a one year bridge without arb rights to have the cap hit low this season because we’re in win now mode. If we wanna go long term it’s gonna be 7 or 8 years at 7 or 8 million.

Ceci at 3M for two more seasons is a good cheaper replacement player for Pesce in the lineup especially year two when the cap jumps. Then you add Foegele who now has value because of his play in the playoffs. Now a 1st and a B level prospect for a guy that won’t resign in Carolina I think the offer is close

Not at all. Ceci isn’t a good player and would immediately be our worst defenseman. Might be a 7D for us. Foegele been there done that, don’t need another bottom 6 winger, have plenty of those. A late first in next years draft isn’t of much value if it’s the core piece in this deal and the prospect is fine but nothing special and just a sweetener in a deal like this.

Like I said, need some actual value that the canes are looking for to either help them now or assets they could actually flip to help them now. Oilers aren’t in a place to make a deal that would actually work for Pesce unless Bouchard or RNH is available, neither of which should be.

My point is he’s not gonna sign a deal like that and you’ve hamstrung the team with these deals so if somebody wants to OS him it’s an easy target and would put you in a world of hurt. It likely won’t get to that but he’s also not signing that bridge.

If you consider the Ekholm trade it puts it into better perspective. Ekholm is a better player, he had the playoff run and now three more seasons AND Nashville retained money! They got a 1st and Reid Schaefer (last years late first round pick A- level prospect), Tyson Barrie and moved their 6th for our 4th round pick. Okay. Now Pesce isn’t quite as good and only has this one season remaining under contract and it’s known he’s not resigning in CAR. They get a first, B level prospect, quality third liner and quality replacement dman with two years left on his deal. So to me this is a fair trade

The Oilers have to dump a player, Ceci or buyout Yamamoto, moving Ceci in a trade will cost you, the 3rd liner you talk about is Holloway. A 1st plus
Ceci doesn’t get it done so the ask from the Canes will be Holloway & Broberg.
The Oilers will counter with just one of them.
That’s the game, that’s what Pesce will cost.
1st
3rd
Ceci
Holloway or Broberg.
Sign Pesce to a 3 yrs 6M per contract starting in 24/25.

A first Broberg and Ceci is just too much to pay for me. I’d feel like Carolina committed highway robbery

It absolutely is highway robbery, doesn’t change the fact if you or I was the GM of the Canes and how much we know the Oilers that would be our ask.

I can see Holland bargaining down to just Broberg & a pick, plus a trade & sign but Ceci has to go for dollars to work.
