I started this before he was bought out and I'd be happy with this off-season.

I think Tampa would be better off saving those draft picks. Not worth it to offload all those picks and our only acquisition is Edmundson. Obviously we're clearing cap space for Colton and Jeannot, but we are essentially trading two 3rds, a 4th and a 5th for 1 year of Joel Edmundson. I truly think we're better off giving Fluery the chance, or signing someone to a really cheap deal for 3LD. Doesn't make sense to me to try and trade for Edmundson right now. It may be a different story come the first week of March when we see how the season pans out and how we and other teams are playing. For now I don't think this is a smart move

Thank you for your opinion,I however disagree. I think opening the space and accruing cap space is worth the picks otherwise there's really no way to do anything at the TDL. At 875k Edmundson is a good deal and solidifies the blueline. 1 year of Edmundson and the ability to retain Colton and Jeannot a major unsaid part in your description of what was done

Oh I'm not disagreeing with that. Edmundson is a good option. Especially at 875! Freeing up cap space by moving Seabrook is something we really should be doing this summer, so come the deadline, we have options. But there are options on the FA market that wouldn't cost us future assets, before we even see how the team preforms with (probable) key departures.

IMHO, I think TB won't be able to make any sizable trades unless they offload a decent player for picks themselves. The don't have any good picks and they don't have any really enticing prospects. Other than one of the big names on the roster, Colton is the only guy they could feasibly move out for picks and give them some cap flexibility. Also not sure Bolts need to move out Seabrooks contract if they are going to be so close to the cap anyway.

Either way I highly doubt TB's 3rd in 2024 will be enough to make the Habs want to move Edmundson with 50% retention prior to season start. They'll get that easy at the TDL and keep Eddy for the rest of the year.

I got the trade from several Montreal fan ACGMS.

That's been most people's opinion the last few years (myself included) yet somehow Julien Brisebois pulls a rabbit out of the hat and figures something out.
In 5 years Brisebois has 1 time made that type trade and has said he's going to make every decision with this core to win NOW.

Fair enough. I personally don't think it gets done. I think that valuation was at last years deadline. I think a late 3rd rounder in a years time for a half retained player for a full year raises the cost. As mentioned previously, you don't think the Habs could get a late 3rd from a contender at next years TDL? I do. Easily. Especially after this past playoffs.

You may be correct. This, however isn't a completely unrealistic trade. Hope you're having a great day.

Oh its definitely not unrealistic or unreasonable. If it did happen I wouldn't be up in arms about it but I do think the value could be slightly higher for the Habs.
