Youre not getting a top 10 pick for DeBrincat. His value dropped and the draft is much better than last year when you guys paid the 7th OA for him.

I wouldn't give up the 8th pick for Laf. He hasn't proved he can be a star yet. And that 8th pick can be turned easily into a star in this draft class.

no way any team is going to give a top 10 picks for a 3rd liner, OTT declines NYR trade

I would say yes to 8th overall for Lafreniere in a heartbeat. I know he still has potential, but whoever NYR gets with that pick could easily be just as good.

That's your opinion, I disagree. Plus, the Rangers are in win now mode and a draft pick isn't going to help with that right away. Easy no thanks for the Rangers.

Absolute NO to that Flyers trade.

I would much rather have Brannstrom than Laughton. Brannstrom is only 23 and will be cheap for the next 2 years while the other one is 29 already

Adding 2 other assets on Brannstrom makes this offer quite ridiculous. Thomson still has at least 2nd round pick value. He's 22, RHD OFD and has good numbers in the AHL

Joseph is one of the best skaters in the league (much better than Laughton) and an ELITE PKer. Laughton only produces a whooping 9.84 more points per 82 games while playing 3:18 more per game (including more PP minutes). Joseph being better defensively and elite on the PK easily makes up for that 10 pts difference.

Giving up Brannstrom and Thomson on top of Joseph for those 10 more points (which is not what Ottawa needs) is very Dorion-like and it's guaranteed to blow up in your face very soon, like as soon as next season while Joseph and Brannstrom outplay and outproduce Laughton and Thomson start seeing more NHL games

There was also a 2nd + 3rd, which has value

Yes, his value dropped a bit but not as much as some make it out to be

And yes the draft is better this year but it's mainly the top-5

7th in 2022 + 2nd + 3rd > 9th OA in 2023

I wouldn't be surprised to see Caps fans being interested in doing that. There's one who just did

What? a 8th OA pick is a pretty good offer for Lafreniere...

You messed up the quote so almost didn't see it but what would you hope to get if the Rangers were trading Lafreniere? (not saying they should do it)

There is no reason to trade him, but IF he were to be traded, it should be for help at RW, which is the biggest need the team has. There are in win now mode, so draft picks don't help with that.

The 8th OA pick in this draft could help very soon though

Laffy already helps and will only get better, especially with a new coaching staff who doesn't misuse him like Gallant did. Easy no thanks for the Rangers.
