Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 18, 2023
Published: Jun. 18, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Tree is probably forced to keep the core 4 both Matthews and Willy resign

Willy 8x8.88 mil
AM34 4x13.34 mil

He want to change Defence but with the lack of assets and good free agents I can see this being an option.
Resign Schenn. He plays with Reilly for the most part but stay around 16 minutes. Others filter through.

Dumba had his worst season ever so he will probably bet on himself to try and get one last long term high AAV contract. The leafs are a great spot for that. Good team with no RD depth so will play a lot.

Timmins will go. He’s a Dubas guy and can’t see them wanting to keep him.

Jarnkrok was a Dubas signing and Tre already fell for him once and won’t do it again.

Monahan was with the flames and tre only had good things to say about him but unfortunately had to let him go for cap reasons. With health I’m sure he would give him a chance. He adds good C depth.
With him and ORielly if John can’t handle the speed he could be bumped to the wing.

McBain is like the next bunting but heavier. He would do great as a complimentary top 6 player.

Wood and Acciari are great energy bottom 6 forwards. Wood was over payed at 3.2mil but on a term I think he would take 2.5. Not sure tho hard to tell with how little he has played over the past years.

Over all 3 lines the can score and are abit heavier.

Defence isn’t great but with how the team has played over the past years shouldn’t have a problem keeping the puck out of there net and leaves flexibility for years to come.

Goalies Woll definitely deserves to play in the nhl and Sammy was good enough. He get the vaneck contract and Murray goes on LTIR cause there is definitely something that you can say to put him there.

I bet you Brodie bounces back. He had a nagging injury I think.

Jack McBain is 6'4" and 220 pounds and had as close to a break-out year as anyone playing for the Desert HangDogs could, scoring one point fewer in 82 games than David Kampf on a team subtle indications suggest wasn't quite as good as the Maple Leafs. Ronnie Hirvonen is undersized and has yet to play a game of organized hockey in North America. Now I'm not saying that McBain is the next Brady Tkachuk, but I don't think that trade is close.

If Murray doesn't go on ltir, you have a problem, although a small one. You could just trade Samsonov and run Murray and Woll. I fully expect Woll to be the guy next year no matter who the other goalie is. How he played in the playoffs is what this team needs. He lost but never flinched and the clinching goal was blatant interference so he's in no way to blame.

So what do we get with Murray? Well he likely will get hurt at some point. But when he's healthy he was pretty good. Had a rough few games trying to deal with an ankle injury and then the first few games coming back from that weren't good but that's injury related. His first half season was quite good.

But who knows, did anyone really see Hill doing what he did this year? Goalies are a crap shoot. I don't see Woll/Murray as much of a big risk. If it can save me some big dollars this year and next with Woll making what he is, one year of Murray doesn't seem bad, if it's comparable to what you have to pay Samsonov

I agree goalies are hard to figure out. Sammy seems to have some up side though and if he doesn’t play well or will ready turns into a number 1 u can alway trade Sammy away he’ll be the first goalie in a long time that’s not a negative asset.
If Murray is the goalie you Will definitely need another nhl backup type goalie cause u know there will be a stretch where he doesn’t play for 2 months

I this so too. I was going to make the pick a second but the leafs don’t have any seconds. It will probably take more than that but who knows maybe he doesn’t want to play for that **** franchise anymore and requests out. But would definitely change the prospects to nhl ready guys if that what they want.

Maybe 2 thirds and steeves with Voit as a future to look forward too
OldNYIfan liked this.
