Hague is worth at least a 2nd IMO

This is a joke right? Hague? For a 4th? Hague isn't moving for anything less than a late first at this point, and he is the last to be a cap casualty this offseason. Let alone for Erik Johnson in a world where we have Dani Miromanov at RD waiting in the wings. This is just absurdity.

Relax Nic Hague is barely worth a third. U won the cup but not every player is worth a first. He’s a bottom 4 d man. Nothing special.

Contenders also don’t just hand keys to prospects. Vegas will absolutely sign a veteran to at least compete with the RHD prospects.

He showed during injuries in the regular season he can easily handle top-pairing minutes. The guy is a big body, two way defensemen who was drafted with a 2nd, and is dirt cheap for what he provides. Doesn't matter, as he isn't being moved. This just shows a complete misunderstanding of how the Knights are run, their roster, and the player Hague is.

Miromanov has shown across multiple stints with the big team he can definitely handle NHL minutes. He'd get paired with McNabb and mentored. And if they did sign a vet to compete with him, it sure as hell wouldn't be the likes of Johnson. May as well just pencil Miro in at that point.

He's not. Martinez is. Hague and Whitecloud have been D partners for 6 years, and aren't about to be broken up with how good they are together as a $4 million pair. VGK's first concern has always been value above all.

They likely don't resign Hill but the odd man out on defense is going to be Martinez just because of size of cap hit, age, and injury history.

He has an 8 team MNTC. The vast majority of teams he can be shipped off to. It could be for future considerations. Just a pure cap move.

Martinez is still a beast with only one year left on his deal. It's a zero risk move for a whole slew of teams who need a legit top 4 D man who can eat shots and mentor the younger guys. It would be insanely easy to move him.

You would absolutely have to give up a pick to move Martinez. Look what TB had to give up to move Tyler Johnson and Ryan McDonagh

No, Vegas doesn't have to move Martinez. Tampa had to move McDonagh or like Vegas had to move Pacioretty last year.

It's going to be Martinez for FC without a sweetener unless they move too slow and are put in a situation where they fo have to move him due to signings. Martinez also has a lower cap hit than Patches did and less term than McDonagh who also had a full NMC.

For a player like Martinez, you can pretty easily send him away with his very manageable cap hit. Would be even cheaper to move him within the division to a team like VAN or SEA that could really use a guy like him. You have to pay to move guys like McDonaugh and Johnson because they have nothing left to offer. Martinez does.

McDonagh was a crucial part of our defense and it showed without him this year. He’s an elite shutdown defensman with 0 offensive ability. Any other team would have found it incredibly easy to move him.

Erik Johnson is not washed, he was pivotal in the avs cup run. Last season he declined yes, but he would def serve best as a 6th/7th dmen.

He's a shutdown defenceman with no offensive ability who also costs 7 million on the cap. Shutdown defencemen with no O zone upside don't make 7 million.
