Description
No reason to trade for one of Saros/Hellebuyck/Ullmark imo if you improve the bottom six and the defense.

I think you can work a deal with Arizona for Vejmelka + Crouse. (if they want more to take Granlund then just buy grandlund out and remove Poulin from the trade.

Rutta to florida seems feasible given the injuries florida is walking out of the SCF with, they'll need bodies to eat minutes for the first half-ish of the season, they'll obviously get LTIR cap relief with Ekblad and Montour but they'll be back well before playoffs which to me makes it difficult for florida to go after interim replacements with high AAV given they only have $10M in cap space currently.

I think if you offersheet colton about $3.5M TBL can't match. Less than $10M in cap space, 8 roster spots to fill and no real tradeable cap relief pieces.

I think the Flames would want 14 instead of a 2024 pick but I like the idea of Pickering.

From what I’ve seen, Kampf is almost guaranteed to be signed by the Penguins

Well in this scenario the 14OA goes to NSH to add more picks to the cabinet for the penguins while remaining in the 1st round. That pick goes to AZ though, would rather obtain two players than send for Hanifin. Still a fair trade in my eyes though. Giving up 2024 1st plus the pens #1 prospect (which happens to be a LDman)

I haven't seen anything linking Kampf to Pittsburgh aside from the fact Dubas signed his last contract. I haven't seen anything even on twitter about it. Maybe a random fan here and there.

**Not that you're wrong** could very well happen.

I’d have to look again but it popped up on bleacher report yesterday I think. He seems like a good fit none the less

i'd be okay with it for the right price, his shooting % isn't great but for a bottom six role (preferably not 3C) i'd take it. i'd like Poehling back however, think he has a lot to offer. If you have Poehling/Kampf/Fast on your 4th line i think that would be fantastic.

I would take Saros/Hellebuyck/Ullmark and play Ruhwedel over Vejmelka and Soucy every day of the week to be honest.

I like the skaters overall - just very worried about the goaltending. Wouldn't pay anything over a mid round pick for Vej - and preferably that would be for a backup role

Soucy is extremely sound moving the puck out of the d zone which i think is needed.

I'm not against a top tier goalie, but outside Vasilevskiy name an elite goalie that's won a cup in the last decade. (MAF helped in the back to back and you could toss Quick's name in there) but to me it's either been a goalie that got extremely hot, or just solid basic play in net with a great team in front.

I'd rather spend the assets on skaters than a goalie. 3rd and a prospect for Vejmelka seems perfectly fine.

For NSH it depends on who is there at 14OA. NSH would have 2 picks in the top 15, not 3, 14OA and 15OA, and while that would be great, it is dependent on who they want and if they don't think they can get it at 24OA.

I'm not trying to say Soucy is bad I have no issues with him - just that the difference between Saros/Hellebuyck/Ullmark and Vejmelka is more significant than the difference between having Chad or Soucy on the third pair. In my opinion.

Your goalie point is valid - but I'm still playing the odds ang going with an elite goalie if I can get one. I'd rather spend money on skaters as well - I agree with you there. But to me that only applies if that skater is an impact player - like a top 6 forward or top pair dman. If I can get an elite goalie and I'm only sacrificing a 3rd pair dman or 4th line forward - I'll take the elite goalie. Vej for a 3rd and a prospect isn't a terrible trade - I'd just rather it be for him to be a backup. I don't have confidence in him being on a starter on a team that is hoping to compete for a cup. I know I've had the Vejmelka conversation with a lot of people on here haha - everyone seems to be super high on him and I'm not.

It's still a good team - not trying to say it's not. Just that we're really hoping for some "uncharacteristic" performances from these goalies - that's the best word I can think of haha. All of the elite goalies you mentioned would be very difficult to get though. I'm not saying they're worth it either

great catch by you, i did awful math, rofl. Yeah that type of trade is obviously with players available being the driving force.
