Description
If a retained trade is possible on Murray, do it in order to save on cap next year if he were bought out. And to avoid trading a 1st round pick or something stupid.

Big Ryan Graves should be a target, or Soucy.
Value contracts and utilizing organizational depth is needed.

Retaining on Murray is definitely an option, not a great one but it's there. Unfortunately, there's not much difference between this retention and burying him in the minors, at least, not enough to give away anything substantial.

Graves I'm not sure is worth that and Rodrigues is scary as a 2C.

At that rate it would be the same price to buy him out. If Toronto doesn't want to take any cap hit hit its going to cost them since most teams have some cap issues

Agreed. I just rather have someone a bit younger and a better skater than ROR. Limited options if the core remains and upgrades on D.

Graves I'm not sure is worth that and Rodrigues is scary as a 2C.

I think retaining is irrelevant. Teams don't want to help just because they can.
It's gonna take pick 28 to move Murray in my opinion.

The going rate as of the trade deadline was 4 million plus a 1st or 2nd below, so most likely it will be Boston 1st and Murray for a 2nd or equivalent pick or prospect.

Murray shunned Buffalo last summer, so count them out of anything concerning him as a Sabre.
