Description
Explanation:
- Boeser - we had to take him last season, lets fix it
- Kakko - Rangers have the best time to sell him now. Laviolette is not a coach will develop young future stars. Rangers will get back 1st round and 2MM under the cap.
- Campbell + Varlamov is a temporary solution for gollies while Blomqvist and Murashov (will be Vasilevsky level goalie) are growing. Plus, Campbell was good in Toronto and Pens defence is playing a way better comparing to Oilers.
- Grzelcyk is a better D comparing to Rutta but Rutta is a type of d-man that Arizona needs. Boston will agree to trade Grzelcyk to save $3.6MM
- Compher - we need a 3rd C who will move to 2nd C when Crosby or Malkin get injured
- Ekman-Larsson - let's give him a chance

Kakko is RW1 on the Rangers depth chart, with not much behind him. He's also super cheap at only 2M, like you said. Being an in-division rival, you'd also have to pay more, so this is a no.

Hard No from Oilers.
Rangers don't accept that. Kakko is already a 40 point scorer at only 2 million.
The Oilers pick wouldn't be nearly low enough for this to be an interesting offer.
