Trades
1.
LAK
  1. Stevenson, Clay
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Looking at Stevenson or Gibson, think Kings would be fine with either.

Getting a high 2nd puts the Kings in range to draft or trade up for Tanner Molendyk or Etienne Morin.
WSH
  1. Arvidsson, Viktor
Additional Details:
Capitals reload on the wings without having to break the bank on a subpar UFA class. They can pay for retention if necessary.
2.
LAK
  1. Seeley, Ronan
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Kings stock up on LD and get more draft capital.
CAR
  1. Durzi, Sean
Additional Details:
Under the assumption Pesce gets moved, Carolina picks up a replacement that is both cheap and under RFA control.
3.
LAK
  1. Kuznetsov, Yan
Additional Details:
The future of the Flames looks murky, so I’m not sure if they want to get rid of Kuznetsov. Could do Solovyov as well.
CGY
  1. Anderson-Dolan, Jaret
Additional Details:
Flames pick up some NHL help and hometown kid if they decide to tear it down.
4.
LAK
  1. 2024 4th round pick (MIN)
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Too much? Idk, I’m not concerned with the return here as much. Could be anything from whomever.
MIN
  1. Lizotte, Blake
Additional Details:
Wild love freeing their local boys from SoCal, so figured they could have another given their cap situation.

If there’s a way to get some retention on Arvidsson, I’m all for that move.

I think I’ve seen this one in a couple Washington ACGMs. I’ve grown to like it, especially if Caps fans like it as well.

Other than Durzi being a RHD, how the hell is he a Pesce replacement, and why are the Canes overpaying to acquire him?

I really like all five trades, even though I have a sentimental attachment to Blake Lizotte, who's done all we've asked of him and more.

I sure wish that we had Soucy and McCabe instead of Gavrikov plus whoever. (My personal hobby horse.)

Well, see, Pesce leaves, so somebody takes his place, and that's called a "replacement."

Your idea that a bottom-half second and a B prospect is an overpayment for Sean Durzi is, shall we say, idiosyncratic. I'll put it down to lack of familiarity with West Coast teams.

I really don’t think a low 2nd and a prospect of Seeley’s level is an overpayment, though I figured if any of these trades received backlash it was going to be that one.

Had I known Chicago was going to retain 50% on McCabe I would have gladly paid the price Toronto paid last year for him, plus interest. The Leafs would be stupid to let that unicorn of a trade go to waste now.

I debated a hypothetical trade up given the amount of 2nds that were acquired, because I think if the Kings end up drafting somebody, Blake should be swinging for the fences on a player like Gulyayev as opposed to the other LDs (though don’t get me wrong, I love Morin and Molendyk). Use another 2nd on Hrabal or Bjarnason.

I really appreciate the sarcastic wit you have here. That being said, you can hardly consider Durzi a Pesce replacement, when his defensive capabilities leave a lot to be desired.

I consider Durzi a Pesce replacement on the roster only, not on the ice. There's no comparison, and my esteemed friend @GabeVilardiFanAccount meant the term in the same sense I do. I hope that you get to keep Pesce because I think he's an integral and almost irreplaceable (pun intended) piece of your defense.

Yeah I think the words are being misinterpreted here. By no means am I saying Durzi = Pesce haha. I do hope the Canes keep him, but in the event they don’t I think Durzi could fill the void better than Chatfield.

pass on trading for a roster replacement of pesce and not getting an actual replacement.
