K-Dev does every team volume 3 Boston

Description
Boston is in a tough spot. They have some really solid superstars, 2 strong goalies but very little money to fill out their depth moving into next season. I am assuming both Bergeron and Krejci retire for this exercise.

Strengths: wings, depth, goaltending

Weaknesses: center depth, cap.

The plan: get back in the playoffs and finish what was started last year

Boston kind of needs to figure out what the future holds for them. With Berg and Krejci done they are seriously weak down the middle and trust me as a devils fan, you do not want Zacha as your 1 or 2C. The teams focus should be finding a serviceable #1C though this obviously is the hardest slot to fill, I think Boson is so well managed they can make it work.

They also probably need to move Ullmark seeing as Swayman needs a raise and Ullmarks value will never be higher and many teams will be looking for an answer in net.

They will probably look to trade Reilly and Forbort but if no one is willing to help them I think both are buyout possibilities considering they save quite a lot for this year.

I think this team is still competitive and Sheifele gives them a true 1C. Their top 4 remains in tact, their top 6 remains in pretty good shape and if Swayman can stay healthy and produce like he did last year they can totally make another run for the playoffs. The biggest issue with this team is their extreme lack of depth. I only had room to add 1 healthy scratch so if injuries become a problem they might end up being screwed. They could save a few 100k here and there on some of the contracts I signed or they could try moving Hall or Coyle. Hall can probably bring something of value back though I’m not sure what Coyle could bring. Assuming they remain healthy I think playoffs hould be expected with this roster. Boston fans let me know what you think, their situation is a lot tougher than it appears from the outside.

My prediction: 3rd in the Atlantic

BOS
  1. Scheifele, Mark
Additional Details:
Why Winnipeg does this:

They need want to retool on the fly and rid of the previous leadership group from the team. They get a solid young RW1 and very good top RW prospect in return as well as a mid pick back. Not the most lucrative offer but I think considering they don’t want to fully rebuild, this package can help them.
WPG
  1. DeBrusk, Jake
  2. Lysell, Fabian
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Why Boston does this:

The desperately need a 1C and are more than capable absorbing the loss of Debrusk on their wing. Many are very worried about the “locker room cancer” in Wheeler and Schifele but I feel this is getting overblown. Split them up and move Schefiele to an already well Leadered group and I think he would fit like a glove between Pasta and Marchy.
2.
BOS
  1. Drury, Jack
  2. 2023 1st round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Why Carolina does this:

Considering both their goalies of last season are UFA they might look into changing things and avoid giving out long/mid term extensions to Freddy and Raanta. They already have Kochetkov is getting closer and closer to being a starter and Ullmark with 2 years left on his deal may be the timeline they view Kochetkov needing.
CAR
  1. Ullmark, Linus
Additional Details:
Why Boston does this:

Bruins move out cap and commit to Swayman. They get a young prospect ready for NHL minutes and a 1st back in this years draft.

I do think Winnipeg can get a first in a package for Scheif, and the team really needs right shot players, but if I had a say, I'd accept this trade cause Lysell is a great prospect, and Debrusk would look good in the top 6.

Lysell is nice, but I doubt the Jets consider 1 year of DeBrusk. They'd be looking for young roster or close to roster players with team control. You likely need to add a 1st as well.

I do agree sort of. I have a hard time imagining Debrusk extending there but he is young and the idea is that Winnipeg wants to remain competitive and avoid rebuild. I think Debrusk does that. If he were to come with an extension would that change things?

Sure, with an extension it's a different discussion. However, as you mentioned and I agree with, DeBrusk would not extend in Winnipeg.

Although, if both Scheifele and PLD are moved this summer, the Jets need centers not wingers.

Ullmark isn’t a bad fit with the canes but with all the options available both via UFA and trade, I don’t think it’s worth them using assets like this for Ullmark. Rather just bring back Freddy on a 2x4.5 deal and use those assets to shop for top 6 help or second pair replacement if Pesce moves on.

I'm taking Lysell 1 for 1 against Scheifele at this point in his career. 1 year of DeBrusk is okay and the pick is whatever.

WPG takes this deal and ideally signs DeBrusk to an extension.

I think Lindholm will cost more and it seems like Sheifele is getting seriously underrated now
