Less about the offer and more about he still be in his prime in 3-4 years and looks like he's a useful piece. An extension with him likely won't break the bank like one with TK will. He's viewed as a part of this teams future while I'm sure they're listening on him it's highly unlikely he's moved even more so than Laughton or TK

First of all, the Flyers are rebuilding. They aren't trading a 24 year old on a cheap contract for at least one more year unless someone massively overpays. Your offer isn't a massive overpay, overpay, it's not even fair value. 3rd and 4th liners get traded for two second round picks.

Second, "one good season means nothing ?"The fact is he is a former top 10 pick and given a change of scenery and playing in his first full NHL season scored 27 goals and showed massive potential. There is no reason he shouldn't become a consistent 30 goal scorer and he is just now entering his prime.

I don't know what's worse: the fact that you think it makes sense for the Flyers to trade him, the fact that you think there is a snowballs chance in hell they would move him for two 2nd round picks, or the fact that when you were called out you doubled down with dumb excuses for your lack of common sense.

Interesting twist to a top of the draft trade. Don't think Montreal bites as they're giving away the better pick and as much as I hate Hoffman, he still scored more points than Mantha lately and at a discount (versus Mantha) so other than Anthony being Quebecois I'd call them at best a push as the latter brings more of a complete game then Hoffman but the difference in cap is considerable (and actual money figures are also 1.5m higher with Mantha).
At the end of it it's more like 5OA for 8OA and a B Prospect, feels like there's something missing to entice Montreal to drop a full tier of picks down (Past the predicted top 7 I feel like there's a gap with the rest).

Nobody is untouchable for the Flyers other than Gauthier. HOWEVER, Tippett is probably next up on the list of people the Flyers aren't trading along with York and Foerster. As much as everyone loves TK (myself included) we might have found ourselves a bigger, faster, better version of TK who is also two years younger in Tippett. Imagine thinking a 2nd and 2nd two years down the line is enough for him. Stupid is as stupid does I guess.

People seem to think that having one player labeled "untouchable" means its a fire sale for all players. They don't seem to think that maybe the rebuilding team will be reserved for young players, but will sell if given a really good offer.

Yep, or my personal favorite which is where people think because the Flyers are rebuilding they will sell everyone for pennies on the dollar even though Briere has consistently said he won't do that and got a haul back for Provorov is the one trade he did make.
