If Anaheim can do anything to get out from that Gibson contract they should be doing it.

The rumor I heard was the Buffalo 2023 first and Kulich or Ostlund for Gibson and the Boston 2023 second.

Depending who’s on the board, I’d do this for a Gibson deal. But I’m not 1000% sure Calgary does that deal

You’re acting like Gibson is on a Bob contract

Toronto isn’t interested in small forwards or throwing away firsts.

Yes a goalie making $6m/year to be average- and not outperform the other goalies on roster- four straight seasons is a huge liability risk. Correct. He is also 30 this coming season with four more years on contract.

Not outperform other goalies on the roster? What? That makes zero sense

Adams already came out and said Kulich will not be involved in any trades. So false rumor

There's no chance he's moving 13oa or kulich. Maybe ostlund. I'd be more interested in moving 13oa for the right d, but I'm not even sure adams would do that.

Yes, explain why Gibson has not outplayed other goalies on Anaheim in the last four years. Either he isn't much better than any of them, or he isn't trying. Either way, why would anyone want him? These are the irrefutable statistical facts:

2023- Gibson performed no better than Dostal or Stolarz.
2022- Gibson was undeniably worse than Stolarz.
2021- Stolarz only plays 8 games but is much better than Gibson. Gibson was better than Miller in his 16 games played so credit to Gibson there.
2020- Gibson performed no better than Miller, arguably worse.

Someone gets it. Buyers remorse will be so high with this guy. Funny how some guys can play bad for years but, but, they play on a bad team. Another guy has a bad game, and he’s trash. Imagine the multiple first rounds picks the Leafs would need to attach to him if he was a Leaf.

If Gibson's stats were down for four years but he was still outperforming the backups I would be open to the "bad team" argument. But he hasn't been good statistically in four straight seasons and his backups haven't been worse than him. In fact collectively they've probably been better. That's either an effort and/or skill problem with Gibson himself. If Gibson gets traded elsewhere and have yet another average season, he'll be completely unmovable. No one should risk assets to acquire that type of potential problem.

Why would the Sabres want to wheel and deal goaltenders for the sake of wheeling and dealing them?

The Maple Leafs are not interested in making better decisions to improve its roster to contend. They prefer to throw big money at underperforming players and at best have quick postseason exits.

Dubas had to run trades past Shanahan to get his approval, part of the reason Dubas is no longer employed with Toronto. Guess who still has his position? Who should keep up?

Shanahan didn’t make trades — he vetoed trades — like the Knies to Chicago trade. Probably should have vetoed all of Dumbas trades. Keep up.

The Maple Leafs have made the playoffs each of the last 7 seasons. The Maple Leafs advanced as far or further than all teams except 4. Not everyone wins the cup every year. In fact, only one team does. Some teams have never even won a cup.
