What if the Durzi trade was made to c*ckblock the habs from Offer sheeting PLD?

Maybe habs inquired to ARI to get their 2024 2nd round pick back, then ARI's GM offered to LAK that pick in exchange for Durzi... preventing any real competition for PLD.

Maybe the plan was for MTL to OS PLD on july 1st - basically cutting off WPG's ability to trade him.

Would be funny and 100% a Bergevin type move.

I’ve heard this theory more than once and with the whole back and forth offer sheets between Carolina and Montreal when Bergervin was GM and now he’s in LA, seems at least a little plausible. Idk but it makes for some interesting water cooler talk amongst the rest of us on here
