Description
1.5M to Schenn giving him longer term to make up for dollar value or NMC
infusion of youth in fwd line (promoting from within) to save cap space and to send message to future signings and draft picks that we develope and invest in their futures.
ROR at 4M per based on Jordan Staal signing for 2.9M (similar skill sets but taxes higher in Canada)
1year for Connor Brown based on its a show me contract since this past season wasnt great (injury prone?) but still in ballpark of what hes probably going to command on open market based on his skill set.
Muzzin contract sent to Chi town with 1st (although late in 1st) for a couple 3rds to sweeten the deal and make it worth it for them (maybe?)
Counting on Core 4 to elevate their game with increased ice time to make up for lack of change up front.
Deangelo on D to add some Darcy Tucker style hockey on backend and can be counted on for some offence too. (Maybe backfires, ala Bunting..?)

Why would the Leaf's need to move Muzzin? He will be on LTIR all year

and a big no thank you to Deangelo. You don't want to add him to the dressing room

Giving away assets to move Muzzin is puzzling since he can just go on LTIR. He might have value to somebody trying to reach the cap floor, but the Leafs aren't doing that move at all.

HELL NO DEANGELO!!!!

Connor Brown is a sneaky good signing in the middle-6. Great potential for a bounce back and lots of opportunity for him to come home and play with very skilled players.

Murray probably costs more to move

maybe he rubs Mitch and Austin the wrong way...pisses them off..and they actually play with more anger in their blood..plus he gets other teams too lose their cool too..hes a little bit (or a lot) crazy..but he has skills too

or he becomes a distraction/Cancer in the dressing room. You need players that hold each other accountable not divide and piss each other off

what do you think it costs for a Murray dump? we gave up a 1st to move Mrazek (and got a 2nd in return, and he had 1 more year than Murray left on the contract)

to be honest this ltir rule confuses me...so he doesnt reflect our cap space while on LTIR...but he helps reach the floor on some other team?..do you know why it works oth ways?..I was guessing part of his cap was still affecting our total availability based on what I stated..

elaborate.
from where I stand they get a good D to replace Noah now (since he doesnt want to play there, and TJ is a known comodity in Calgary)
youre only commited to 1 year if it doesnt work out and get a draft pick to balance out age difference.

Calgary has Kylington returning next season to replace Hanifin in the top 4. With a very weak defense market this year a top pair caliber defenseman like Hanifin will be in very high demand, while I like Brodie and think that he is probably worth a couple 2nds he is very redundant with Tanev on the roster. If Calgary is trading Hanifin it should be to address needs not replace something already in excess

I mean if Dumba would sign at 4.5 and Calgary accepted that trade that would be the best D corps we’ve had in a long time if not ever.

People saying Murray is an issue is odd. His buyout structure is fine, could retain half his salary this year and provide a 5th round pick likely for someone to gamble he can play. If no takers just make him play every preseason game, he’ll inevitably get injured and set him a sail for him Robidas island

I like Robidas island..however a buyout costs you peanuts this year but 2.5M next year..thats a lot too commit ...thats another depth player possibly.

Sharks aren’t sending a conditional 1st for a cap dump. Don’t be silly.

Well it's quite unlikely Noah is waiving to Toronto. He's apparently made it clear he wants to be traded to the US.

As for the return, it depends on what Lindholm is doing since that decides the direction Calgary goes in. I think Hanifin could fetch a mid 1st and a prospect if he's in high enough demand (ie Buffalo's pick)
