Oilers fan here, Lindholm and Backlund are excellent players, I’d be ecstatic if they were somehow added to my team.

In the Minnesota trade, Calgary does not need to add to that deal. AT ALL. For a still very effective RHS C/RW at a reasonable cap hit (with 64 goals which is 40th in the NHL over the past 2 seasons) this is a fair deal.

Replace Logan O’Connor with Alex Newhook and that is the correct deal for Backlund, who had a career year last season. He would eat Johansen’s breakfast, lunch and dinner. Excellent hard-matching centerman.

Anyone that thinks the Avs are trading Newhook and a 1st for Backlund is by definition delusional. Avs would trade a 1st and still highly unlikely now after the RyJo trade.

Opinion and fact are completely different things, but generally those who categorically call people a thing are projecting what they are on to another. Anonymous humans lose their humanity under the guise of anonymity.
