Description
This is all under the assumption that Lindholm does in fact want out of Calgary and that the Flames decide to try and stay competitive rather than rebuild.

Miller is still an elite offensive talent and he lines up with a Huberdeau/Kadri/Weegar core's contention window. Shipping out three expiring contracts for a long-term (albeit expensive) asset plus two good young players with upside makes sense in this situation. I completely understand if the value is not quite what Flames fans would want in return though. What could Vancouver add to make it work?

I think this puts Vancouver in a good position to contend for a playoff spot. We're taking a huge risk that we still miss out and can't re-sign all or even any of the new guys, but even that would come with the silver lining of more cap space next summer.

What do you think? Do the Flames even consider this? Am I crazy for considering it? Let me have it.

Why would TO want to move the better player to take on more long term cap?

Yeah, A fan favourite, steady player on back end for a player with a terrible contract that I don't even want. No way Leafs accept.

This was a far more interesting proposal than I thought it was going to be.

I would not do that if I was Canucks GM.

Fair enough. I've heard some Leafs fans painting Brodie as a cap liability, and know they could use better middle six wingers. Guess I misread the situation.

What would be your counter-offer?
