Exactly. That was my rationale for taking the deal. I would almost take Holtz straight up for Helly, but getting Vanacek and the 1st makes this a HUGE win for WPG.

Ya, that's INSANE. NO ONE rational gives Helly that. He's NOT worth it. I'm from WPG and a JETS fan and I say... he's worth 5 years, 6 at the most for $7M tops.

The Jets can want Schmid all they want, but NJD shouldn't acquiesce to that.

Might be better to look at Saros, has 2 years at a reasonable price, and with our window open could pay off.

Saros is FAR better. My feeling is Saros is the best goalie in the league. NJD should be looking at him over Helly ALL DAY LONG. Saros is FAR MORE reliable and consistent. Helly is flakey. He can win games, but doesn't win them when the Jets need him to. He wins the ones he seems to want to win.

Goalies should be drafted and developed. Just keep adding younger ones via draft. Add a rental or UFA if needed.
