no way Toronto accepts... neither does Nylander going to a team that should start a rebuild, and definitely not signing a long term extension with them

Mantha is a cap dump, a first alone would get rid of his contract. Now you're looking at Nylander fora 2nd which the Leafs obviously won't do

Agreed. Lets play along and assume he would sign..trading a 40G scorer for an 11G scorer (with picks the Leafs dont need unless they plan on moving them for help now)..seems lopsided..we alraedy gifted you Sandin (tks Dubas)..you owe us lol

As a Caps fan, the only way it would be possible to get Nylander is with Wilson involved. Probably something like Nylander + Tor 1RD Pick for Wilson + 8OA

Sandin really isn't all that special. Does some stuff nice but he certainly isn't at all good defensively

Mantha should not be in this deal but there is a 0% chance he costs a first to move

Hes still developing..he hits, he has some bite, he skates, hes creative...his defensive IQ will only get better as he gains more experience (that means actually playing unlike what the brass in Tdot were doing with him)

He gets pushed around, his defensive coverage sucks and he doesn't really create enough offence to offset his defensive issues. Trading him was fine, getting that 1st was a good mov.e.

I did mention his defensive play..I believe it will get better hes still real young..saw a mock draft showing maybe Oliver Bonk could be avavilable at that spot (Bruins pick)...hes apparently being compared to Brett Pesce (Son of former NHLer Radek..decent bloodlines)..but will be some years before we see any use for him in pros. (or anyone else we pick at that spot)

Likely, but Sandin wasn't a difference maker for TO.

hes still growing but as long as a player doesnt get mins (and you have to let him play and make mistakes..imagine working for someone and youre just learning on the job but they keep taking tools out of your hands..how you gonna learn if you dont get to try stuff and finid your strengths)...hell be a top 4 within a couple years (imo)..sooner than that 1st will make it on our roster

His cap hit is 5.7M, he's only got one year left, and even at his worst he's a 3rd line winger with solid defensive metrics. There's absolutely no way he costs a 1st to move.

I don't think he'll ever be anything more than a 3rd pair defender who needs sheltered minutes and does well on the PP. The leafs didn't need him. Trading him was a wise plan.

For most teams the cap hit is what matters
