Maybe they do, maybe they don't. Teams don't tend to trade out of the top 10, hence the massive return. Very weird situation where Nashville can afford to trade the best goalie in the league for that elusive franchise altering forward.

Definitely not a #1 goalie, but very serviceable 1a_b goalie

Saros is 28 and has 2 years left on his contract before he's UFA. Can't even talk extension before July 2024. MTL wouldn't be interested.

MTL would want Askarov and NSH 2023 1st.

Yeah I think like you if Montreal would trade with Nashville for the #5 pick they would want to base they're offer on #15 and Askarov as he's more valuable as he's younger and would fit more with the core. The downside is that while he got big potential(Askarov), Sarros have more accomplished on is record.
