Gives Bedard someone to help on the PP and it's one season of Hoffman's not great contract with the possibility of flipping him for a pick if he puts up some points. Could change Chicago's pick to worse quality one but I figured a pick swap by then would probably benefit Chicago, plus Chicago needs players to fill out cap space right now so I don't really see it as a big deal to take on 4.5m.

I like Slaf but with the players they have it might be smart to start him in Laval, some other good prospects like Roy, Kidney, Mesar and Mailloux will be down there this year to play with him too. I think he'll be back on the Habs within the first month or so though. (Especially with injuries to guys like Gallagher being inevitable)

Except with the acquisition of Hall and Foligno yesterday, the Hawks don't have a spot in their top 9 for Hoffman to play in. And he wouldn't be on the #1 PP unit even if he did come to Chicago. Lucas Reichel will be in that right half wall spot. Pretty certain the ship has sailed on any Hoffman to Chicago trade.

Every team has cap they'd like to dump on the hawks. The hawks aren't gonna give up that cap space for a tiny pick upgrade. And they're basically at the cap floor already. And Hoffman sucks so flipping him for anything is questionable.

What do you think RHP and Newhook get?

I think RHP is a possible overpay but on the short term it makes sense considering how he did last year (We'll see about this year though).

Newhook I figure gets a similar deal to Dach given the circumstances but we'll find out soon I'm sure.

I gave Gurianov 2.5m x 1 because we have the cap space but he's definitely worth less than that. Probably closer to a 1.5m-2m range but going off his previous deals it made sense to me that he would want that.

Oh and the Hudon and Juulsen UFA signing are just for jokes, I bet Hudon would light it up for Laval again though haha

Hey I mean you are both probably right, most likely scenario is that Montreal just rides out this last year with him and then he's gone but I do think as much as Hoffman is washed he could be a decent piece for a team to help their PP... but I also did just watch that exact attempt fail in Montreal so who knows.

I don't think they sign Gurianov. Especially now that Newhook is here.

Dach got a high amount because he signed for 4 years. Maybe Newhook get something similar at 4 yrs. But I feel like they'll stay 1-2 years with Newhook at around $2M.

RHP I think he'll get a Pitlick type extension. Probably 2 years $1.1 to 1.3M.

Ylonen will be on a one way deal, but no reason for him to be over 900k.

Even Teasdale doesn't merit a raise beyond league minimum if he wants to remain in Laval.

I feel they must've seen something in Gurianov to make that deal for him instead of just draft capital but I agree his fit now is pretty awkward.

Newhook to me has this weird status as being someone who didn't work out for the Avs but he got hardly any ice-time and put up respectable numbers. I feel like putting him on a 1-2 year instead of the end of his RFA status would be an odd choice as well. I think a 3x3 checks out with the market value on other young promising players right now.

I could be too high on RHP similar to how I was with Pitlick so that is probably a more realistic deal in reality, forgot how similar this situation is to Rem last year.

Just threw contracts on those last 2 guys to be honest, Teasdale won't ever play on the Habs and Ylonen is just a good reserve body when injuries happen.

No. We have players already on our roster that are better than Hoffman, and we aren't paying for cap dumps.
