Why wouldn't the Wings just sign Compher themselves?

Brodie is the better dman.

idk man he's great defensively but he really got exposed in the Florida series. plus he's easily replaceable for how much he's making. leafs also need a puck moving dman to replace sandin.

Hawks have enough veteran leadership on their blue line w/ Jones, Murphy and Tinordi. They need to start giving prospects like Vlasic, Phillips and Roos NHL ice time. Adding Brodie just blocks a spot for one of those guys. Plus giving up a 3rd for one year of Brodie doesn't seem like good asset management. That's a move a team w/ playoff aspirations makes.

I think the Murray trade would be fair if you added another 3rd and dropped the 5th coming back. Sharks could be interested if they ship out Kahkonen.
