Erod - 1 year

Created by: LaTornade
Team: 2023-24 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 28, 2023
Published: Jun. 28, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Could E-rod take the same 1 year deal (small raise counted against the salary cap - 2,42% vs 2,65%) one more year?

Last year was to a large part ruined by injuries all over the lineup. Could he once again bet on himself (and the team to stay healthy), play on the first line, put up 60+ points and cash in next year when after the cap bump. Just asking a hypothetical question here, what are your toughts?

Not a chance. We will not have an issue resigning McLeod.

    Fair enough.

    Your guess at contract?

Erod will make at least $3 and likely more just by pure points production.

That would be the safe bet. Don’t you at least think there is a very slim chance that he signs a 1 year contract for less?

if he does he needs to get his and his agent's heads looked at

That's what bolts said about colton Ross lol. Not saying McLeod will get traded to the avs but can't say never

I think if they avoid arbitration he goes for somewhere at $2M or a little less for two to three years. I would prefer a three year deal, but would be happy with anything less than $2M for now.

I think, more than playing for a contender, more than a high AAV, he'd take a 3-4 year deal from just about anyone. He's looking for $4M+ AAV, but we'll see if he actually gets that much.

Haha, sure! Well, just spitballing here and taught it would be fun just to ask the question since it is possible that he is in the same position as last summer, without offers with term he likes due to cap limitations. But yeah, some team should probably be able to pay up 3x3,5M.

That’s essentially what he did last year, coming off a similar season in Pittsburgh. AFP Analytics has him projected at 3x$3.7M, which should be affordable for the Avs if they can scrape the bargain bin to fill out the roster.

This is most certainly the most realistic take.

Yes, exactly, hence my question if he could do it again under pretty much the same circumstances? I know it’s very unlikely, just wanted to confim how unlikely it really is. Avs will have a hard time with 3,7M. If they add an extra year and get it down sub 3,5M that will help.

Sub $3.5M would definitely help, especially on a mid-term deal. From a personal perspective, Rodrigues should be trying to cash in. He’s finally out together a couple of consistent seasons and has a chance to make his money. Hopefully that’s in Colorado at a reasonable number!

Totally agree, he’s a perfect guy for the top 9, moving up and down the lineup and playing all forward positions. He deserves the cash. I’m with ya, let’s hope so!

Erod is a good fit imo because of his versatility plus he supposedly wants to be in COL but he isn’t taking a 1yr deal.

Agree, he’s a great fit! Hopefully an extension comes in at sub 3.5M
