Completely agree, and it was a conclusion I had to form, since I was initially against trading Ceci at this point. His style of play suits Coffey more than Ceci's.

I also thought this was too much, however I didn't want to hear it from other fan bases lol. Also I was in the same boat for Ceci > Walker, but after looking into advanced stats Walker performs better than Ceci in most/all of the important categories even with a lower PDO and lower end D partner in Nick Seeler. Looking at years prior to this one Walker had better results than Ceci, however he was playing against lower end competition at that point

I would agree, however I can guarantee about 99% that the Oilers won't move him for a rental. Plus Bourgy is a Quebec kid. They would love that if he worked out to be a player lol

I used to be on the same boat as you. However the salary cap space for the following years is more important than picks that won't play on the team for at least four years. it is a high cost, but you also get a good goaltender that would hopefully be re-signed for the following year. Oilers don't need a $5M goalie.... That is unless someone like Saros comes available. Cap space is worth loads

I think if they avoid arbitration he goes for somewhere at $2M or a little less for two to three years. I would prefer a three year deal, but would be happy with anything less than $2M for now.

I understand this and would agree, however I think they can use those future picks to get a quality forward. it is more than enough (or close enough) to get someone like Konecny if desired. Also Barbashev is a free agent and Canes could sign him with their available cap space and then just keep the picks. Bunch of possibilities, just an extra move is all, see it all the time. Also I feel a guy like Scheifele would be a great add for this team.

Completely fair! You seem like a reasonable thinker. I think best course of action is to play Broberg in the minors for 20-30 games and play 20-25 minutes a night in all situations. I think that would definitely help his progression and value, especially if he can stay healthy

I think from an Oilers perspective, one would more sooner trade Broberg, 1st round pick and another higher level prospect in hopes he would sign a 4 or 5 year deal at a "reasonable' cap hit. I am a big fan of Pesce and would love to see him in orange and blue... Also to note, he is a tree, exactly what Kenny likes.

If I am the Oil I don't move Ceci. And Yammo would be a cap dump to Philly, since they aren't going to be competitive. I would trade Yammo for a late round pick or buyout before Looking to trade assets for a dump. Oil would need Philly or a third party to retain upwards of $2M or $3M for that to even work, which gets way to expensive for my liking. I would also rather send Bourgault than Holloway personally.

I have been seeing a lot of large overpays on TK. That is almost like four first round picks for one. Jack Eichel's trade return would be almost equivalent (given Tuch's value at the time)

Can't see any team being a 3rd party to retain on a player for two season for only a 3rd.</div></div>
I forgot to add a prospect to the 3rd party retention trade. Would have to be someone like Savoie, Tullio, Nemo, etc.

Yeah that would have been a stretch with Yams. I am a big fan of that Nino trade and I think he is a perfect fit for the Jets. I have seen a lot of people trading him away, so was unsure where the fan base was at with him. Also wasn't suggesting Nino to EDM either

Appreciate the feedback. I was considering on putting Yammo and a first for more retained, but not sure if WPG would value Yammo as more of a cap dump than I truly think he is. Thinking they could flip Nino for more as well and get decent production from Kailer since their RW position would be full.

Cat Trade
Not a fan of either team, but I do think that Sens trade would benefit both teams. Vladar is a solid backup and would be great for OTT since Talbot isn't coming back. Cat would be great up front, but would most likely need to add a first into the deal somewhere. I like Hanifin a lot too, so OTT would be getting a good D

I would ideally like to not have to pay anyone to take him. But seeing what Bjorkstrand went for makes me think the market is a lot harder to entice people to take on cash. I really wish Foegs would have lit it up last year so there isn't so much thought on who needs to be cut. Someone has to go and I don't think it is Barrie. I am guessing between Foegs and JP.

Very understable. Would have to be a high pay if anything. That's why I liked him. Ever since I saw him light up McD last year I was like "yup, we need a guy like that". Who else in the league is similar to his playstyle and on contract making fourth line $$$? I would like to find someone like that

Thoughts on the Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>The only way I trade Barrie is if Bouchard signs an extension first. His contract is up next July so he is eligible to sign an extension right now.
Bouchard scored 43 points last year with minimal PP time... he was 11th in the league among defensemen for scoring at 5v5. He's probably getting $5-6M on a long term extension as it is, let alone after a 60 point season.</div></div>
Agreed, I would sign him to something at least 4 years long. The only reason in my mind to trade Barrie is for more cap space... I would like to keep him on the team, but if that were the case I would re-work the blueline to look like Nurse & Bouch, Kulak and Barrie, and Broberg & Ceci... I wouldn't want to see Barrie and Broberg paired up, which is why these pairs are layed out like that.
