I don't see the fit for the Stars.

They signed Miller on the cheap, which gives them a very solid top 4, and outside in Lindell, a group that can produce offensively. Adding Barrie may give them a legit PP quarterback, but I believe they believe they have that in Heiskanen.

Feogele for Gurianov is a downgrade for the Stars at this stage, and the picks don't offset that.

Overall, I really don't see the fit.

Trade seems unlikely given the cap disparity, but it annoys me how good this team looks.

Ken Holland got 2 get out of jail free cards and gets Kane and kulak and below market value and now gets to put together a great roster?? Annoying

Let's look at the cause and effect of trading Barrie right now. As it stands bouchard will get paid for his 5-5 play on a bridge deal I'm guessing around 3 million x 2 or 3 years. If bouchard works out on the pp what will that do to his next deal? 5-6 million? Shooting yourself in the foot moving forward when it's completely avoidable by holding onto the proven player for one more year.

That's a big win for Edmonton, can't see Dallas doing this.

The only way I trade Barrie is if Bouchard signs an extension first. His contract is up next July so he is eligible to sign an extension right now.

Bouchard scored 43 points last year with minimal PP time... he was 11th in the league among defensemen for scoring at 5v5. He's probably getting $5-6M on a long term extension as it is, let alone after a 60 point season.

Agreed, I would sign him to something at least 4 years long. The only reason in my mind to trade Barrie is for more cap space... I would like to keep him on the team, but if that were the case I would re-work the blueline to look like Nurse & Bouch, Kulak and Barrie, and Broberg & Ceci... I wouldn't want to see Barrie and Broberg paired up, which is why these pairs are layed out like that.

In my opinion not much difference from a buyout just creating future headache for temporary relief. Creating a much much larger problem.

Quite right. But there is a way to eliminate that future headache entirely, as Bouchard is eligible to sign an extension today. Do that first, then do as you will with Barrie. That's all I ask!

I could see a wold in which bouchard gets moved and Barrie gets extended. Alot can change in a year.

I don't see it, even if I squint a lot. Just their age difference would preclude it. Barrie is going to be on the downswing of his career while Bouchard still won't be in his prime yet. Bouchard is already the better player.

Idk I could see Barrie have another 5-6 years of quality play in him. His style of play usually doesn't age as fast or poorly as more rugged guys.
