Pass on JGP. NSH already has too many guys who fit his profile, and I can't see them trading this much just to take on another one, especially with his contract in full while retaining half of Barrie's salary. Its a lot to give up for a guy who is a slight upgrade at 3C.

Tell me more about the kind of player he is

Mayfield's a strong, physical RHD. I'd say his ceiling is second pair/first unit PK. He's going to lay the body a lot, he's going to play fairly disciplined, and he'll be good for 15-20 points.

The reason I'd think the Isles move on from him is that type of player tends to get *paid* in free agency, and with Ryan Pulock & Noah Dobson already under contract on the right side, combined with not a ton of cap space to play around with, I think that the Isles move on instead of paying him. The red flag I'd give for any team interested in him is that he's turning 31 around Opening Night this season and this player type doesn't tend to age all that gracefully.
