I don’t think there’s a fit. Is Wyatt available? I’m sure he’s not. March is nice but idk that it makes sense to get him in a Pesce deal

This is likely what kills the deal, cuz Dallas’s forwards have two tiers:

    Superstars and decent players.

Marchment is the closest thing in value Dallas would give when it comes to a forward, but he’s far from the qualifications of “impactful”.

    No he isn’t.

Marchment could be a piece in the package, but I’m sure it’ll require more than that.

I could see maybe Marchment+Dellandrea being a base, the 2024 1st would for sure be on the table (Canes could flip it to acquire a young impact player).

canes want to compete now, i beleive they will push for prospect instead of pick.

Impact can mean multiple things - Marchment would be great in Carolina. The issue being motivated enough to move Pesce - even if it means he just plays out the year and leaves as UFA.

The balance of our top d core relies on a solid RHD paired with Skjei. Chatfield is good, but he’s best on 3rd pairing.

Moving Pesce creates a hole that must be plugged. So Canes have to pivot to another defensive RHD or completely revamp D corp and move both Skjei and Pesce.

Yes that makes sense, a low end prospect in the range of Stranges or Damiani could be added to stomach Miller’s 1.85 million contract which would end next year.

Let’s just say the Canes would trade that 2024 1st for someone like a Fabro for an example (who Nashville probably wouldn’t trade to Dallas with the fact that they’re rival teams), and maybe a little more on top of that.

Now Fabro doesn’t replace Pesce’s importance on the Canes, but he’s still a good young RHD. Plus they add a middle 6 forward in Marchment while eliminating the risk of losing one of their best defensemen for nothing in next year’s FA.

This is exactly the problem with a pesce trade for Dallas. I don’t think there’s a tier between what you mentioned and while March is a good piece I don’t think it makes sense for the canes this year if they’re trade pesce. Would rather look elsewhere to get a top 6 impact player or some assets that can be quickly flipped for that impact player.

Maybe March a first and miller for pesce. Might need to add to even it out but that’s probably the most realistic package, although not one I’m excited about and likely not one the front office would be.

things look good on my end then. You might have enough space to keep Domi even

Marchment + Miller + Stranges + 2024 1st would be fine with me.

But I do agree that chances are they’ll probably be a more suitable fit elsewhere, just trying to figure out something with what they have.
