With NSH looking like they are about to enter a true rebuild, Askarov won't be going anywhere. He is the future of the team.

I would really expect the Leafs to have to take on quite a bit of cap back. Whoever trades for him will have plans to sign him and will need cap space. I don't think that he will get nearly as much of a return as people expect because there will be some other good UFAs that year who will cost a similar amount. It will be interesting to see the return compared to Lindholm

if William Nylander wasnt a handsome swede with nice hair and was an ugly canadian he would be so much more valued across the league and have more respect

I mean I definitely agree, but there have been rumours that he is available.

Him for Lindholm one for one makes a ton of sense too

Feel like its a fair trade. Framework like this makes sense.

I'd rather keep the younger Terry at 7 million than pay Nylander 10. Yes, I'm aware Nylander is a better player, but that extra 3 million in cap hit could be huge down the line.

There is also the opportunity to grab him as a UFA if he decides to go to market and fetch the most he possibly can.

Either way, it doesn't make sense for Anaheim to give up those assets to acquire Nylander now.

Those rumors were mostly present leading up to the draft, in which Trotz was trying to get 4OA or 5OA. When that didn't happen, the likelihood of Askarov being moved essentially fell to 0%. With the buyout of Duchene, Trotz is either looking to make a big move this offseason (e.g. some local writers have been bullish on offer sheeting Zegras) or tank, with tank being the more likely option. With a rebuild for NSH on the horizon, the future in goal is secured. Its a matter of building around that now.

Wouldnt it then make sense to trade Saros? A Samsonov + Willy for Saros trade makes some sense. Now as well, the Preds can trade Saros for a haul and really kickstart their rebuild.

yea but thats because people on this site dont actually have a real grasp of player value, start to see the value difference between what they think will happen, then the actually trade itself in real life, if you would have suggested the tkachuk trade before it happened people wouldve said youre moronic and thatll never happen because flordia would reject it all day.
