Josh Yohe reported it’s like a 3 team trade.

Granlund and Petry are cap dumps, so in this scenario the Sharks are trading Karlsson + Kahkonnen + $3m retained for a 2nd and Desmith? Doesn't seem great.

I think take out Granlund and it is pretty similar to what the deal could be. I don't see us giving up a 1st

Yes two cap dumps and retention aren’t going to happen

They're both overpaid but still contributors, Petry is a #4-5 D (6 mill is too much he's probably worth 3-4) and Granlund is still a 3rd line forward (5 mill is too much but 2.5-3 is where he should be). So they're dumps because they're overpaid, it's not like and Andrew Ladd who doesn't belong on a roster. Both guys could fetch a 2nd at the deadline with 50% retention. Especially Petry if pens are already holding 3 mill, he could be held twice and be smaller than a 2 mil cap hit for a playoff team.

That plus DeSmith who's been better than Khakonen and a 2nd and Poulin.

Not amazing value but seems like no one else is interested

I think the 3rd team will be where Petry goes and my guess is Nashville or Chicago could be it.

Yep. SJ signed Burroughs today and they were allegedly in on Bear too. Looks like they won’t take Petry after all.

Is there a source where Friedman said that. Just wondering because I've seen all of Rossi's tweets

You’ll likely take most of Granlund but with a 3rd team involved I can see your retention on EK being under 2M.

Yohe is confirming most of this which makes me more confident than relying on Rossi.

Our retention would be low because Sharks owner doesn’t want to be responsible for paying Karlsson to play against him. Grier said Plattner is very much in the Karlsson negotiations. Johnston reported that SJ would retain maximum 3.5 mil

I don’t think you’ll retain that much, especially if a 3rd team is involved.

I think it would be in the Sharks best interest to retain as much as possible, to help maximize a potential return.

Not if money is the primary reason for the trade, which it clearly is.
