That can't really be the debrincat return, I have no idea what Detroit would offer at this point.

Pretty sure it’s a joke because Ottawa looks to draft “High Character” players, and when they have to get paid the narrative flips to “He didn’t want to be here so we traded him for peanuts”.

He signed an offer sheet with a division rival so he clearly doesn't want to be part of the unparalleled success. I guess the multi-year, league minimum offered to him wasn't good enough.

Detroit cannot accept that. We're already retaining on Vrána and we have a handful of players that may need retention at the TDL.

We're also pretty full on our right wing with Perron, Raymond, and Sprong so we're not really looking for a right shooter for that wing at this time.

Agreed. Another second should be added for the salary retention.

I have no problem trading those players, but this isn't enough for DeBrincat. If this was the best offer Ottawa signs him for 1yr and promises he will be moved at the TDL.

Teams don't sign a player turnaround and trade him. It's a very good way to keep future free agents from signing in your city. Trust me this is good for Ottawa you don't want Holl.

What did you think of the draft? I don't mind ASP but I didn't love Danielson and the project defensemen in the 2nd I don't understand.

I thought it was a reach but safe. He's a tougher version Kasper. In their scouting reports from the ones I've seen go something like this:

They start with Solid and/or Responsible and/or Hardworking followed by 2 way forward.

Then there is a compliment to their Skating, Compete Level or something like that.

That is followed by saying they probably won't produce like they did before being drafted with the authors take on why their scoring won't translate to the NHL.

This isn't a bad thing unless your team desperately needs to score more goals. So now behind Larkin we now have Copp, Kasper, Danielson and now Compher who are very good 2 way forwards but won't score a lot. With Chiarot, Holl and Gostisbehere our defense isn't going to be good and I feel bad for Maatta going to paired with 1 of those DONKEYS all season long. Plus with Reimer and Lyon as Husso's back ups we might set the team record for most goals against in a single season.

You didn't think it was a bit over the top or overly dramatic?

I forgot to add that Bedard said Danielson was one of the toughest centers he's played against.
