So much of this is unnecessary. Particularly the dead weight UFAs.

I think penguins fans need to give up on the EK65 dream. The only positive is that he requested a trade this morning where as the past week or so was speculation teams were calling SJ. With him requesting to be traded that'll hurt the sharks return. I still wouldn't want him on the pens unless his cap hit is $6M (would need a third team).

Carter isn't going anywhere though, pens are stuck with that, we all need to just accept it lol

Maroon = $1M cap hit, 16 team NTC
Carter = $3.125M cap hit, 35+ contract, Full NMC

I do not think Carter could get traded. He would only waive for a contender, and I do not see a single contender that would want him.

SJ would want much more in the way of futures than this. I could see them taking one bad contract back with some salary retention, but not both Granlund and Petry. Neither of those guys would have much of a purpose on a rebuilding team other than to take up roster spots instead of their young players.

I don't see why we need to give up. By all accounts Dubas is still very engaged in the trade and us and Carolina are the two top contenders. That's as of this morning. Haven't heard anything negative since, so chances definitely are higher than 0.

I said it in my other post to you but will say here too.

Will need to be a three team deal and you can't have his cap hi on the pens be more than $6M AAV.

I would be SHOCKED if SJS would take Petry and Granlund back in the deal, shocked. That would take a 1st and 2nd alone not to mention probably two prospects like Pickering and Poulin or something along those lines. You need to find a third team still and pay them for taking cap hit.

Again, I think the sharks are at a slight disadvantage now because he officially request a trade this morning, so they have an asset that doesn't want to be there, but it's still going to cost a hefty amount of future between SJS and third team.

I think I saw something saying they'll retain 30%. If we can include Petry in the deal plus around 3 mil retained then I think it could happen. We'd have to dump Ruth's contract somewhere else, but there are ways to make it happen. If a 3rd team was involved in discussions that means they were pretty far along.
