Not sure why the Devils would trade Dougie for a Tarvares rental. Pretty terrible deal for the Devils.

Why are the devils giving up dougie to take on that awful contract? Palat at 4 mill returns more

I get it. I look at it as by 2024-25 I dont think we want/need Dougies 9M on the books with Marino, Nemec, Casey perfectly capable on the right side. I think all 3 will be better than Dougie at that point, and even if one isn’t ready it won’t be hard to plug a depth dman in to the 3rd pair.

Tavares won’t hurt us the next two years and then suddenly we have a lot of cap to work with to re-up L.Hughes, Mercer, Schmid, Nemec, Holtz, etc to their long term deals.
