Description
Without any trades whos team is better this or sabres. I believe devils are couple years ahead of the sabres but in 2025 is when I believe the sabres begin to pass the devils. Especially in goal and defense. Offense it will depend on how all of the sabres prospects.

We would let VV walk for cap room. By then Schmid would be the starter.

Slightly biased perhaps but I agree, Sabres and Devils will most likely be among the strongest teams throughout the rest of the 20s.

Cannot see Vanecek getting resigned when his current deal is up. Chances are that Schmid will likely have developed into a bonafide starter at that point in time (if not by Christmas 2023 already) and between Brennan and Daws the Devils should have a serviceable backup by 2025.
Bridging Hughes will likely be a mistake, would be way better to lock him up long-term once his ELC is up.
Mercer deal is within the range of possible outcomes but I feel like a long-term contract at 6m - 6.5m is more likely.

Devils have a little more certainty. Sabres have the advantage of A LOT of ELC support. should be really fun.

I agree with forwards but on defense and maybe goalie sabres have the advantage. For the forwards sabres have 5 forwards coming up but Quinn and pertka have already proven they top six guys. In two years sabres will have cap space and depth no one can in the league can match.

In two years hamilton will be 33 and on the decline. So, Samuelsson and Siegenthaler are wash both defensive dman. Samuelsson is 3 years younger but in two years they will both be in primes. Dahlin is by far the best player on both teams and in two years he will be top 3 dman in the league maybe one. Power will be better then Hughes and Nemec. They could be close but Power has played top 4 minutes already and has the size that is unmatched. The depth is where sabres will need to improve but the addition of clifton should help and we will have cap space to add in couple years. If we look at the top four. I am not sure you will find one guy who take devils top 4 over the Sabres over the next 5 seasons.

Dahlin vs hamilton is your only defensive edge.

Hughes>Power
Siegs>Samuelsson
Do you even have anyone to compare to Marino or Nemec?
