You must be a leafs fan. The trade gets the Leafs under the cap and solidifies the defence overall, at the long term cost of Minten and a Third. Leafs can't afford Brodie next year and Robertson isn't worth much. I'd rather get cap savings by including him in that trade than a third or fourth round pick.

I think the Hawks do it as is. You upgrade 3rd to 1st for Murray. Lafferty was well-liked by the team and would be an asset you can flip at the deadline again.

Taking Murray is worth a 1st on his own and there's no guarantee Chicago can do better than a 3rd when Lafferty is traded again.

Brodie is much much much better than Zadarov. This is a massive win for Calgary. Which you know already. Once again, someone posing as a leaf fan to chirp leaf fans.

No moving Murray isn't going to cost a 1st. The goalie market right now is paper thin and the Hawks only have 1 goalie on their roster and he is both terrible and absolutely will not play more than 30 games. Do you really want to throw a couple AHL guys to the wolves? Murray doesn't have any value but it won't cost a tonne to move. It's been reported today that they are shopping him and expect a late pick in return. Guess what, your GM is giving guys like Perry and Foligno 4 million a piece to insulate Bedard. Getting a 2 time cup champ goalie for free is likely par for the course for you guys. It's a clear upgrade and could he a good move if Murray stays healthy. For a team with loads of cap space and a clear need in net, it's certainly not far fetched. No matter how badly you dream of screwing the leafs over.

The Hawks have 4 goalies under contract, they don't have room for Murray. The plan is for Soderblom and Stauber to get NHL games this year. Murray makes that much more difficult. I'm not saying moving Murray is going to cost a 1st or commenting on value. But I think your evaluation of Chicago's situation in net is off. They don't have a need there, and sending them Murray isn't doing them a favor.

Sure bud, I guess making all the moves to give Bedard a better than last place team means nothing eh? Better use unproven goalies and a horrible starter that will get hurt more than Murray will in Mrazek.

Part of giving a Bedard a better team in the long term requires letting young guys play so they can find their goalie of the future. I'm not sure why you keep bringing up Mrazek's injury history, they've played the same number of regular season games over the last 4 years and Mrazek played more last year. Adding Murray to Mrazek doesn't help the Hawks.

Murray was part of a platoon. He could have played more and his numbers were miles better.

Again, it’s not one for one. Brodie is better. There’s no doubt about that. But it’s not an infinite cap world and the cap savings are critical. I’d rather get a season of Zadorov at 2.75 and Dumba at 3 split over two different lines than running back a team with Gio in our top 6. Gio can’t keep up anymore. The trade allows Dumba to replace Brodie in top 2 (which I admit is a downgrade) but gives a huge upgrade on our third pairing to balance out the defence. How do you expect to improve our third pairing and be cap compliant with Brodie making 5, and Klingberg making 4.15??

Minten is way too good to toss into a downgrade at Defence
