That's a reasonable idea, except that you can no longer make a draft pick conditional upon a player's signing a new contract. But it seems like fair value to me.

Not too far off value wise but that’s likely more than the Avs are willing to give up for Nylander, unless there is some extension in place and he takes a discount, which is unlikely. Also doubt the Avs include LOC in that trade, seems fair without him included.

I just don't think it's a good idea for the Avs to head into next season without adding another top six scoring winger, and Nylander is the best available on the trade market, even if it's for only one year. Avs are in a Stanley cup window and they should look to upgrade their top six if possible.

Big return for Nylander but this would be fun, I’m down for it.

Not sure what the exact value is to balance the trade but LOC is probably more valuable to Colorado than he would be to Toronto. My preference would be to swap him out for a comparable asset.
