Description

Filip and Kappo are the keepers. Zach Jones is the second coming of Michael Del Zotto in my view. Can't play defense. McDavid, Eichel, Lafrenière??? The particulars of the proposed trade are up for discussion. However, moving Laffy and Jones while they still have some value and interest is an option. I believe the NYRs are shopping Laffy as we speak. Finally, I'd love to give K'Andre more, but a bridge at $4M for three years is a reasonable alternative. $5M for 8 years would have been my preference, but the cash is not there. Approx. $1M in free cap space gives Drury a little room to maneuver.

Who do you think is the right team? I've looked at all the Western teams, and I can't find a good fit. I don't see any other Eastern team as well. Perhaps Buffalo. Looking forward to your comments.

Anaheim is the first team that comes to mind. Good prospect pool, picks, some older players that could move depending on the timeline. Nashville seems like they could be a team that takes a swing (like FA). Buffalo, Carolina possibly, Montreal seems like it could make sense. The isles are re-tooling, OTT replacing DeBrincat, VAN, WSH/ PIT trying to make last year runs, Vegas is always shifting, Jets and CAL have roster turnover.

Yours is the kind of thoughtful feedback I appreciate. I'll revisit BUF, CAR and MTL for sure. If you package Laffy and Zach, you'll like ask for a player and a draft pick in return. How high a draft pick depends on the player given in return for these two. Thanks again!
