I know the retention helps. But the fact that every team in the League had a chance to pick this guy up for FREE off the garbage heap...and STILL passed on him...is very telling of how everyone views his current potential.

he's on unconditional waivers for contract termination. He will be a UFA this time tomorrow. There is no retention, that is what he signs for

I think the Rangers have enough underperforming top 10 pick wingers for one roster

That's what many were saying about Ryan Strome too before he came to NYR
