This doesn't seem smart for TOR.

Agreed, its a redundant need when you are already paying Rielly and Klingberg nearly 12M combined to be one dimensional defenders

Sharks want to do away with massive contracts not add them during a rebuild. Easiest no of the week.

I think SJS would flip Nylander.

He’s young enough to be part of the next window. A 1 for 1 would be fine and if we don’t resign him a similar deal for Meier at the TDL could be within reach.

Nylander extended is worth a great deal more than Karlsson. The 6 years difference in age is worth a pile

He wouldn't want to waste time here.

I reduced the value from this trade and you’re telling me even my massive reduction is not enough. I’m confused.

Little to no media coverage bashing him at every corner and an improving prospect pool and tons of cap space after this year to pay him and bring in help plus great weather he might. He has 5/6 prime years and 8-10 years left in his career (maybe more) and sharks will be good again within that window! And it wouldn’t be crazy remember last off-season when Gaudreau went to CBJ of all places.

I didn't even look at the media bash. I just meant he'll be done with his prime years when we're competitive.
I think the Sharks are farther our than they think. I'd be happy to be wrong.

You seriously think an extended Nylander isn't worth more than Karlsson?

Top 10 prospect pool that’s starting to mature while we’re also adding higher quality pieces this draft and next and in 24 sharks have a large amount of cap space opening up to start adding and developing the roster with. I see 2 more bad to rough seasons and by 25/26 I see them climbing the rankings and by 28/29 back in cup compliance

He won’t extend till after the trade, and depends on the contract. Over 10 a year, no. 9 or under, obviously.

You are going to be very disappointed in the return.
