nice of you to want to help rangers out, but unfortunate they do not have the cap to take on Lindholm.

"Rangers are not trading Laffy for a one year Lindholm rental, keep dreaming"....

I agree that the Rangers don't really need a Center. But Lindholm is a 1st Line Center. "Laffy" hasn't exactly killed it it and has fallen way below expectations so far, especially when it matters. 7 Playoff games with zeros across the board last year did not help in the 1st round against the Devils.

The trade does not work because the Rangers don't need a center / but not because "Laffy" is a premium asset.

Yea he’s not a premium but I bet you can’t name that many cheap wingers playing 3rd line minutes and no PP time still getting 40 points lol

You can view him how you want, you're right that his stats have been underwhelming so far. But he is still a "premium asset" to the Rangers because they have no reason to appraise him for any less in a trade.

Rangers already have a better 1C with Zibanejad, and 2 guys at 2C level in Trocheck and Chytil. There is no need for Lindholm. And while Lafreniere had 0 in 7 the most recent playoffs, the entire team sucked. Panarin had a whole 2 points, none at 5v5. Lafreniere also had 10 points in 21 games the previous year in the playoffs, so...

I am not dumping on "Laffy". My point was that your comment of "dream on" is misplaced.
Lindholm is a 1st line Center and a two way player with Selke potential. The Rangers don't need a Center (but if they did, it would cost a young player like this to get him).

RE: Name better players on a cheaper contact....
all entry level deals for young players look great especially when they produce. But Laffy was 140th in Even Strength Points which is decent but not outstanding. At this point Chytil looks more promising than Lafreniere or Kakko.

It’s a bit of an overpay on the hanafin trade. Debrusk is close to a 30 goal scorer. So not realistic to give up him and a first.

I agree. I don't think its a good trade because it does not address a need for both teams. The Rangers are deep down the middle and they don't need Lindholm. My objection was to the idea that Lindholm has significantly less value than Lafreniere...

I don’t think any team is trading 1st overall for aging vet. And the rangers already have Mika who’s an underrate 2 way center

lol chytil is entering his 7th season and is like 2/3 years older than both of them. I would sure hope he’s better than two guys who entered the league later

Was he 1st overall (Yes). If they redrafted he would probably go 3rd (or maybe 4th). Lafreniere is a quality NHL player, but most people expected more, especially considering the fact he plays on a strong team with so much talent around him. Time will tell if he realizes his potential and what the Flames get for Lindholm....

Wrong. The trade does not work because the Rangers would get just 1 year of Lindholm and have to give up a 21 year old that has a lot of potential still. That is why the trade doesn't work for the Rangers.
