I know it’s a player downgrade, but I think Allvin would consider this. $2m in cap savings and a 2nd round pick is decent value for a guy they were rumoured to be shopping for a while. If they could use the cap savings to make an upgrade at 3C or D then it’s probably worth it IMO.

I think i'd prefer to add to Garland slightly and just get the whole 5 mil off. But I will admit the value here isn't bad with the 2nd coming back with Joseph.

More realistic return is a 3rd or 4th instead of a 2nd in that package

Looks better and more balanced than anything Couver has had in recent years. Solid. I have to agree with what was said above about might not get a second just with how tight the cap is rn

Which teams could take Garland and his AAV? Not Ottawa for sure

Yeah, 2.0 AAV x 3 years is extremely valuable right now. It's probably as much as the difference in value between Joseph and Garland.

About half the league currently. I'd also be open taking back money. Preferably not a winger and not a 3 yr deal as well. I'd exhaust all options to that end before considering this.

Yeah Ottawa doesn't fit... Joseph is the only forward not part of the core or who doesn't make minimal money (Kubalik too but he's 1 year before UFA and they're not going to trade him now)
