Rangers would take it and run.

Jets probably hang onto Connor…but it’s an enticing package.

Flyers ought to take that.

Agreed. Next year Trouba has to submit a 15 team no trade list and Detroit is likely to be on that list. But next year the Ranger may choose to buyout his contract.

All of that said, if the situation arose where all parties were agreed (NYR, DET, and Trouba), I believe NYR would take the deal. However, there is virtually no possibility that this will occur.

Trouba is probably overpaid by at least $2m/yr. A buyout next year is two years of $4M and two years of $2M. It would be hilarious to see after Trouba forced Winnipeg to trade him there though.

Why do we assume Detroit would be on the list? He's from just north of Detroit, and played his whole life in Michigan before he went pro.

It wouldn't take all this to get Trouba. Fabbri w retention if you're trying to dump his contract. or a 2nd alone if you don't want to trade contracts. Trouba is misused by NYR but it looks like it's too late to change that now.

Trouba is from Michigan so there's a small chance he waives. NMC aside the Rangers would take this deal and run if they could.

No we are not going to buy him or Kreider out. Simply retain 2-3m and receive a nice return! Although we might be better with them still

Being from New York, I wasn't aware of that fact. But you are correct, he is a Michigan boy. Based on your comment, am I correct that there is some interest in Jacob?

Assuming there is interest, I don't think DET would be his first choice. Here is why. When he negotiated his contract with the Rangers, he was targeting NY because his wife was going to attend medical school in New York. Believe me, that contract was all about Jacob! I think Jacob would be looking for a solid playoff contender first. Detroit is on the rise, but after a long, and impressive run of making the playoffs, it's been a while and they are not there yet. I think Jacob would pursue stronger playoff contenders. first. It's his contract MO.

Also, based on the 20 man 23-24 DET roster, there are eight contracts up for renewal (5 UFAs, 3 RFAs). I'm not sure they could handle Trouba's CAP hit if they are planning to re-up most or all of them.

You might be right. If Jacab decides to finish out his career closer to home, I have no doubt DET would be at the top of his list. Hope this clarifies things.
