Looking Ahead

Created by: rednwhite

Initial Creation Date: Jul. 13, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just wanted to take a look at our cap situation next year assuming the cap jumps up a bit. Trades are just to get those guys off the roster, not realistic trade packages. With the Seider and Raymond extensions we only have about 4 mil in space assuming the cap actually jumps up. That puts us in a tough spot considering the UFA class will be significantly better then this year's. Hopefully yzerman can find a way to dump Fabbri and Chiarot. If not we will have to rely on a large number of prospects to make the team like kasper, soderblom, Wallander and mazur.

Kyle Davidson would never stop laughing at Yzerman on that trade proposal.

You think taking a 32 year old, declining, below average, overpaid defenseman for the next three years @ $4.75M is worth just moving up from the 7th round to the 4th round?

You're looking at bare MINIMUM a 1st+.

Both ARI and CHI pass, Don't see Seider getting anything less than either 8 x $9,000,000 or 8 x $9,500,000 per.

I was just dumping them to see the cap space. I understand trades aren't realistic.

Something tells me you have a slightly biased opinion.

A 1st+ is a bit egregious, but yes this is not enough.

Too much $$ for Ras and Berg.

Most of the current to-be 2024 UFAs will not actually hit UFA (Aho/Nylander/Reinhart/etc) and the ones that do will be far too expensive. At this point, we wait for Kasper, Danielson, Ed, Wallinder, Pelikka to hopefully develop into NHL players and go from there.

I'm optomistic that they both have 50+ point seasons and sign bridge deals.

The price to dump Chiarot would be MUCH steeper than this.
